February 17, 2002Been a long time since an update, so there's lots to report... First off, Dusty Mistreater continues to recover from knee surgery to replace his ACL. Yes, this is the surgery mostly reserved for football players and the like, and yes, Dusty did suffer the injury while onstage in Austin. ROCK AND ROLL! OWW!In better news, the readers of the Grunnen Rocks website (based in the Netherlands) have voted THE MISTREATERS' Personal Space Invader EP the third best 7" single of the year. Check out the complete results of the Poll 2001. According to the good people over at Flying Bomb Records, the X-Mas Surprise Package Vol.4 7" is already sold out; it was in fact the fastest selling Flying Bomb 7" ever. You can, however, still order the single direct from THE MISTREATERS, on black or clear yellow vinyl. Just email the band to order a copy. Which brings us to our next piece of news... You can now order all of THE MISTREATERS' releases direct from the band via paypal. The website will soon have automated links to make for easy ordering, but for now just send an email of what you would like to order, and we'll figure out shipping costs and send you a total. You can still, of course, send a money order to the band's PO Box. Just make sure and email first. After taking a much needed break, THE MISTREATERS return to the road in March. They will be playing a handful of dates with the BASEBALL FURIES, who have recently relocated from Buffalo to nearby Chicago. Dates include stops in Bloomington IL, Memphis, and Austin, where the two bands will crash the SxSW festival. Saturday afternoon, March 16, will see THE MISTREATERS and BASEBALL FURIES hit Sound Exchange for an instore appearance with the DEADLY SNAKES and the DIRTY SWEETS. Saturday night, the bands will be at Trophy's for an "Anti-SxSW" showcase. Other bands appearing are TBA. On the home front, THE MISTREATERS will be playing with the DETROIT COBRAS, LOST SOUNDS, and the CATHETERS at the Cactus Club on Saturday, March 23. Upcoming shows in April and May are being firmed up. Check the schedule page for the latest. Last but not least, the following pages have been updated... - Releases - Gallery - new live photos, flyers and band photos - Links December 6, 2001Lots of news to report... first of all, THE MISTREATERS wrapped up their three-week West Coast tour with BLEED on November 18 in St. Louis. The tour was what industry insiders would call a "success" - shows were played, liquor was poured, etc etc. Highlights included playing with the FIREBALLS OF FREEDOM in Bellingham, with KING LOUIE in Olympia, with the HARD FEELINGS in Austin, with FEAST OF SNAKES in Dallas, and with the LOST SOUNDS in Memphis... Low points included show-crippling equipment problems in Bellingham; having 1 person show up in Olympia; having the show in Austin get cancelled due to extreme weather (10+ people dead!) and Dusty Mistreater blowing out his knee at the make-up "matinee" show the following afternoon (and not getting to play with the HARD FEELINGS after all, because Schooley had to "work"); Dusty having to play on crutches at the show in Dallas; and having to play AFTER the LOST SOUNDS at their own record release show*, prompting Christreater to drag the microphone cord out the door and yell (mid-song) at the crowd congregated on the sidewalk. And there was some puking, too. And not just in Memphis.Fallout Records has posted pictures of the MISTREATERS and BLEED from their in-store appearance on November 3. -> MISTREATERS @ Fallout -> BLEED @ Fallout THE MISTREATERS would like to thank the following people for helping us out while on tour: Dan & Sara, Andy & Mindi, Kelly, Aaron at the 3B, Tim at Fallout, Fleury, Dominic, Bird, Peter, Trey, Will, Schooley, the guy who donated his crutches to Dusty in a Walgreens in Pflugerville TX, James & D'lana, Jay & Alicja, the girl at Sun Studio, Kopper, and the guys from Head In a Milk Bottle. Extra special thanks to all the people we just forgot to thank. NO THANKS TO SATYRICON! In other news, Flying Bomb's X-Mas Surprise Package Vol 4 is OUT NOW! It is available directly from Flying Bomb's Ammunitions page, and features 3 original Christmas songs from the VON BONDIES, MISTREATERS, and SOLEDAD BROTHERS.
