Details coming soon. July 25, 2003Thanks to all the people who have sent their condolences in the past few days, it really means a lot. Some people have asked how they can contribute to help us replace our equipment and buy a new van (one that won't start on fire, hopefully). Box 1981 Milwaukee, WI 53201 Thanks again to everyone for all the support, we love playing music and would like to do it again soon. July 23, 2003On Sunday night, about 35 miles outside of Houston, our van's engine caught on fire. We were unable to put out the fire and were forced to evacuate the area as quickly as possible - and everyone got out safely. Within five minutes we were standing helplessly watching our van become entirely engulfed in flames. All of our equipment and merchandise was destroyed, along with a lot of personal items. The fire department came and put out the fire before the gas tank exploded, but needless to say our van is now in a junkyard somewhere outside of Houston. A big thanks to Stephanie from Sugar Shack (and her young baby Baxter) who came to our rescue and drove out of Houston to get us and drive us to a hotel and rental car office. We'd probably still be in the middle of nowhere if it weren't for her.The rest of the tour, which was to take us to Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, and Indiana, was canceled. We are still going to try to play our shows in Minneapolis and Chicago on August 1st and 2nd - and we still plan on touring Europe in the fall - but all other touring is off indefinitely. We had insurance on both the van and equipment, and I'd love to go into detail on how the insurance companies are jumping through hoops to screw us, but suffice it to say they found enough loopholes to screw us out of just about ALL COVERAGE on both the van and equipment. There may be a fund set up in the event that anyone would like to help us get back on our feet. I'll keep you posted. After all this bad news, I think it's appropriate to end by directing everyone to Watch Me Eat A Hot Dog dot com to see what the Mistreaters were doing in New Orleans the night before the van went up in flames.
